I don't know if this has been covered in admins instructions for posting, but if it has then a number of writers are not adhering to it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who occasionally reads stories on my phone, and to be able to do this the font size is really important. Leaving your story set on the standard font size makes it impossible to read on a smart-phone - I have a Samsung Galaxy S which has a pretty big screen but there are often stories I just can't read. :*/

I find the use of coloured fonts make it harder on the phone too, the standard white on the blue background stands out really well :excited: - whereas this or this doesn't! Not an issue on the PC.

This possibly drops the chance of you being read and more importantly rated because if I haven't seen it when I've been on the PC a story has often dropped down the page never to be read!!

I've done this intentionally set on size 6 font - I'll log on with my phone and see what it's like then re-post my thoughts.

It's a small screen compared to the pc/laptop and although you can zoom to a size you can read it means you are forever trying to move the body of the text around to read it - which becomes tiresome on a long story.

Although you can change your settings for reading web-sites to display larger fonts automatically it doesn't work on all sites - it depends on the original encoding of the site and how the HTML code is written (through software like Dreamweaver or by a programmer manually).

I think forum software (and this is a pretty standard set-up very similar to a couple of games forums I've looked on) is pretty rigid, certainly won't change automatically on my phone.

 

I don't know if you can go back into a post to edit it once it is up and running - some forums only allow you a certain time to edit, maybe 15 minutes but I have no idea here. Maybe someone reading this can help there, otherwise this is the process;

You can do it after you have made the body of text in the settings at the top of the box you type into. It's the top line where you have the boxes for 'Fonts' and 'Sizes'. If you drop down the 'size' box you will get a choice between 1 & 7, I tried 6. Have your cursor flashing at the end of your body of text and select the size you want - I tried 6 - and you will get this appear at the end [ SIZE="6"][/SIZE ] (to make this display I have put an extra space after the first bracket and before the last otherwise it won't show in a post).

To change your text size you need to highlight the first section of this instruction [ SIZE="6"] and use the cut option then simply paste it at the very beginning of your text before the first letter. You must leave the second part at the end - the [/SIZE ] part. Got to preview and it should be bigger.

The easiest way however, is to select the size option prior to writing - once you select it you will see the size command in the box and the cursor flashing in the middle. Always keep the body of text inside the size commands. You can use this same process if you want to use the colour options for your text as well.

 

My books contain poetry.

Poetry does not work on phones.

If he's aware it exists, yes; but if it's unreadable on the mobile phone, and disappeared off the bottom of page one by the time he reaches his laptop, he may never know that a story worth reading was posted.

I very much suspect that authors have an absolute right to post in whatever the damn hell font and colours they want to. On the other hand, doing something that means potential readers can't get at their work, can't really be a good idea.

Actually, Heyesey's comment sums it up perfectly. Sometimes it's not possible to get to the pc and the phone is the perfect other medium but if you can't and it does drop off the page then that certain brilliant story may just get missed.

Don't forget as a writer, you want as many reads and comments as possible to keep it alive. Each new comment brings it back to the top.

Personally if I miss a story it makes no difference to me - if I don't know it exists then it may as well never have been there. But as a writer, you want me (and others of course) to read it.

As for the poetry comment, well I appreciate poetry as it happens and love the challenge of interpreting it. Try me.....

 

Congratulations I have a galaxy s2 all you have to do is set it to align text in a column and you never have to side scroll. Sounds like user error. Maybe read your owners manual..

 

No, not user error at all - mine is set to that as well. The trouble is, the site reads the avatar as well which in turn reduces the page width for the script.

Also, setting the phone for page width doesn't increase the font size - or maybe you have a fix for that as well.......

Such a large font is annoying to the computer user, so either way, someone loses.

Does your smartphone's browser have a zoom feature?

I do agree that font color should not change, regardless of platform. Font size, however, is more an issue between xnxx's compatibility with smartphones.

If your smartphone cannot zoom in, you're a bit SOL, because I don't think many writers will be making their fonts gigantic to accommodate smartphone users and annoy computer users.

 

I sometimes log in using my phone and just use the function to expand the screen if the text is too small. It's never really been an issue for me.
